What the family told us

Kids: Maya in 3rd grade now, entering 4th in fall 2027. Leo in 6th grade now, entering 7th.
Home: Cupertino. Both parents work 9:00–5:30. One parent can drop off at 8:30; pickup by 5:45.
Maya likes: Robotics, art, swimming. Wants at least two weeks with her friend at Camp Galileo.
Leo likes: Competition math (aiming for the AMC 8 in January 2028), Python, and one "just for fun" outdoor week.
Away: Family trip July 5–9.
Budget: About $12,000 for both kids. Prefers drives under 20 minutes and one drop-off route.

Summer window: Mon June 7 to Fri Aug 6, 2027 (9 weeks). Cupertino Union's last day is listed as June 4, 2027; city camps ran June 8 to Aug 7 in 2026.

Galileo's camp day is 9–3 with optional extended care 8–9 and 3–6. Its Cupertino 2027 price isn't published; ≈ $695 uses the 2026 San Francisco rate ($595 plus $100 for morning and afternoon care).

Watch-outs

1Pickup gap in weeks 1–3. AlphaStar ends at 4:00 and work ends at 5:30. Decide on a carpool or extended care before registering.
2Week 7 goes two directions. Keep iD Tech only if both parents can drive that week. Otherwise use iCode Cupertino.
3Week 6 depends on one morning. City camps open to residents at 8 a.m. (Apr 7 in 2026) and popular weeks go fast. Backups are already chosen.
4Six weeks have no published price yet. We'll update the budget as camps post 2027 rates in winter.

Prepare the city accountLog in to reg4rec.org, check your resident status, add both kids with current grades, and save a payment card. This saves the minutes that matter on opening morning.

Within the $12,000 budget. Dropping iD Tech for iCode in week 7 would save several hundred dollars and removes watch-out #2.
